Lismore 199 all out in 40 Overs beat Clonmel 133 all out in 38.2 Overs by 66 runs. Last Monday Lismore had a good win over Clonmel in the minor cup semi final. Clonmel won the toss and decided to field on a pitch that looked very wet but a pitch that played very true throughout the game, a testament to the hard working Lismore grounds men. Clonmel had an early success which brought Raz to the crease. He put on 65 for the second wicket with the younger looking Winston Boyle who made a very good 20. Raz was soon joined by Paddy Byrne and in their 53 run partnership reached his maiden 50 for Lismore before being bowled by the canny Joe Whelan. Paddy made 26, Dave Campion a very brisk 20 and Lismore ended up on 199 all out after their 40 overs. Sini starred for Clonmel with 3 for 49 with Parvaez, Joe, Anjeet and James Burke getting 2 wickets each. Anjeet bowled a very tight spell giving only 16 off his 8 overs and James Burke bowled very well at the end his 2 overs going for 6 and he was the main reason Lismore did not break the 200 mark. He will be on a hat trick in his next game! Clonmel had a very good start to their innings with Joe putting on 49 with Brian Cunningham before he was LBW Paddy. This brought Anjeet to the crease who was Clonmels start batsmen. He hit the Lismore bowlers all over the place and was a threat. After 20 overs Clonmel were about 90 runs and the game was delicately balanced. Brian soon went for 17 and Paddy came back on and got the valuable wicket of Anjeet, caught by Sunil who bowled a very good spell himself, for 45. When Anjeet was there Clonmel had a chance but with his fall Clonmel wickets fell regularly and the only resistance was put up by another young player, Steve Aubrey, who got 15. Paddy got a wicket with his last ball and ended with or 22 and Keith Barry got 3 for 15 tidying up the tail. Raz and Brian finished with 2 wickets.
So Lismore will now meet Harlequins at the end of the month in the Minor Cup Final.
